There is a back road between Cerrillos, NM and I-25 near Santa Fe that runs along the train tracks. This monolith cuts through the rolling hills and is quite the unexpected site. It was late November and a storm was rolling in, complete with cold temps and lots of wind. I left the window down in my truck and it was full of dust by the end of my paint session. The wee yellow paint marks are a back hoe that is parked at the base of the mountain.
